This small blog post is aimed to explain to you, how to integrate Matomo analytics to your PHPBB board.
As a pre-requisite I’ll assume that you already have a working Matomo server somewhere, and you already setted-up the board statistics space ready to accept your futur stats.
The first obvious solution is to generate the tracking script directly from the Matomo server, and then integrate it as an “hard-coded” script inside the board header. This solution is pretty simple but not really versatile at all.
The second and more easy and also more versatile solution is to integrate the plugin “brctx/matomoanalytics”, that I maintain.
The plugin “brctx/matomoanalytics” is a fork of “cube707/matomoanalytics” witch is also a fork of the “matomoanalytics” plugin by Google, designed to integrate Google Analytics into a PHPBB board.
The installation is simple and made the exact same way that other PHPBB plugins are installed. Download the archive, unzip it, upload the directories into the ./ext/ directory of your board, go to the board admin panel "ACP", go to the section Customise -> Manage extensions, activate the plugin, then configure it through the "ACP" section General -> Board Configuration -> Board Settings.
